Facilities

The facilities at Butterton Racing Stables are state of the art and purpose built with the horses safety and comfort in mind. They include:

OWNERS SUITE

The well appointed owners lounge offers owners a place to relax after watching their horses on the gallops and watch recordings of recent races whilst enjoying some refreshments.

MONARCH BARNS

Butterton Stables has three top-class Monarch barns, each stabling 16 horses. Each individual stable includes rubber matting and an outside window, ensuring maximum comfort, safety and fresh air. We also have oversized stables available.

PADDOCKS

We have 20 turnout paddocks, with outdoor field stables offering shelter from the elements. The paddocks are used on a  daily basis to offer horses a bit of 'freedom' after their daily exercise.

PRIVATE GALLOPS

We have exclusive use of a 6 furlong  (1200m) uphill polytrack surface with a grass gallop running alongside.

HORSE WALKERS

We have two Monarch Horse Walkers which we use for warm up, cool down and sometimes to provide light exercise for horses that may be recovering from injury or returning from a break.

OUTDOOR ARENA

Butterton Stables has a 50m x 100m floodlit and fenced schooling arena, with an all-weather surface. This offers an ideal space for breaking and long-reining young horses and basic training before setting out on the gallops. It is a great space for basic schooling and giving horses a first taste of jumping obstacles.

SCHOOLING FACILITIES

All of the hurdles and fences we use are manufactured by Easyfix whose technology offers optimum safety for both horse and jockey. The schooling ground includes double-sided hurdles, normal hurdles and fences, providing a range of options for preparing our National Hunt horses.

STARTING STALLS

We have our own starting stalls to prepare young horses for their first racecourse experience, and also to refresh older horses who might have started to have problems with the stalls procedure.

TURNOUT PEN

The Turnout Pen has a sand surface which allows the horses have a buck and roll in a safe environment.

WASH DOWN BAYS

The wash down facilities are temperature controlled for the horses comfort. For the safety of the horses, all bays are equipped with rubber lining.
